Actitudes y conocimientos del equipo de Enfermería en el manejo del paciente con VIH en un centro de salud de Barranquilla 2023-1

Abstract

The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) attacks the immune system and weakens the defenses against many infections and certain types of cancer that people with stronger immune systems can fight more easily. Despite advances in prevention and treatment, HIV remains a major global public health problem, having claimed more than 34 million lives as of 2015 worldwide. When a person is infected with HIV, this virus attacks and weakens the person's immune system, putting people at risk of life-threatening infections and cancers, because the person has the active virus and it remains in the body for life. During all the time that humanity has existed, it has been separated into great cycles due to communicable diseases, which have left a significant mark on these periods. On the other hand, it has been shown that this HIV infection generates some social effects, such as the devaluation and prejudices of the patient, which ends in rejection, negligence and/or imprudence in the care and attention of the person.
